The Madonna University Sign Language Studies department (MUSLS) serves as an Approved Sponsor for CEUs through the Certificate Maintenance Program of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. In this role, MUSLS approves continuing education activities for CEUs based on evidence that the activities meet RID’s CMP policies as stated in the CMP Standards and Criteria. Additional information on the Certificate Maintenance Program is available at RID’s website.
There are four categories of CEUs that are granted by RID:
- Sponsor Initiated Activities (e.g. workshops and conferences)
- Participant Initiated Non-RID Activities (PINRAs)
- Academic Coursework
- Independent Study
Due to the volume of request received, MUSLS provides sponsorship services only for Sponsor Initiated Activities. These include:
- Workshops sponsored or co-sponsored by Madonna University
- Workshops and conferences benefiting interpreters in Michigan
If you are hosting a workshop or conference for which you would like to request sponsorship, you can email MUSLS at firstname.lastname@example.org and request the information on how to apply for RID CEU sponsorship. A representative from MUSLS will respond to your email and supply you with the application as well as further instruction on what is needed to submit the completed application.
Requests, including submission of application and all supporting documentation, must be submitted to MUSLS at least 60 days prior to the date of the event.
MUSLS does not charge any fees for this service.
NOTE: MUSLS is an Approved Sponsor for RID CEUs only. Questions regarding Michigan BEI units, as well as information regarding CEUs for endorsements or ethics, must be directed to the Division on Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing.
